Akale Heading For Stoke?

Sunday 31 August 2008 by Sagesse

Stoke City have emerged as favourites to sign Ivory Coast forward Kanga Akale on loan from Lens.

everal German clubs are in pursuit of Kanga Akale, who looks certain to leave French side Lens following their relegation from Ligue 1 last season. But a proposed permanent move to Marseille, where he had been on loan, has failed to materialise, and newly-promoted English Premier League side Stoke City now look to be in pole position for the Ivorian striker’s signature.

Stoke boss Tony Pulis is hoping to bring the 27-year-old forward to the Britannia Stadium before the transfer window closes on Monday.

A representative of Akale told Setanta Sports: "Stoke are interested, yes. They want to sign him before next Monday, that’s the plan.

"It would be a loan, with an option for a transfer next summer. I think there are good chances this deal will happen.

"Plenty of German clubs are interested in him as well, but I can tell you that he is attracted by The Premier League."
